Research in Learning Technology

Last week I had another publishing win (see HERE). This time it came via a peer-reviewed journal. Last year, I submitted an article to a peer-reviewed journal out of the UK, Research in Learning Technology.

In January or so, I got a letter that told me they had accepted it for publication. There has never been a moment where I felt more fulfilled in what I've been doing than in that moment. I know it's just one article, one publication, and one journal, but this . . . even more than my defense or my dissertation . . . is the ultimate achievement for me.

Why?

I'm not sure. Maybe it's the fact that I've self-published my novels. Or perhaps it's that for the last few years I've been reading these journal articles, others that look like and sound like this one, and it's surreal to see my own writing in this style and format. Maybe it's that it seems so easy. I submitted this paper to about three different journals, and this one picked it up. To say was stunned is a bit of an understatement.

More stunning is the editing process. Sure it's peer-reviewed, meaning several reviewers from the journal read it and offered thoughts. Want to know how many edits they asked me to make? About two. Two minor edits and one was wrong. I made it anyway.

Still, I am on top of the world! Looking forward to the next.
