I'm reading "How to Write Alot" by Paul J. Silvia. Yes, this is for a class . . . my very last class thanks very much. It's on Writing and Publishing in the academic world. So, it should help me move forward on my white papers, my dissertation, and other writing projects.
I'm trying to also apply his tips and tricks to my personal writing life as well. These . . . among other things . . . are the things I think would be fun to include in a podcast on writing if I ever decide to do "So I'm Writing Another Novel."
One of the first things I'm trying, and one of the first tips Dr. Silvia provides, is to set time aside and schedule writing time. His point, we set aside and schedule time for classes . . . we set aside time for dinner, lunch, breakfast, . . . we set time aside and schedule meetings, etc. Why wouldn't we do the same for writing? Isn't writing as important as those things?
If it's not, why isn't it?
Shouldn't it be?
So, I have now done that. I've set aside time. Tuesday from 8 to 10 and Fridays 8 to 10. Will I write more than that? You betcha. But I've set this time aside expressly for this purpose. I'll let you know how it goes!
