Cooking

I baked alot yesterday. Read alot too. Enjoyed a cooking class from a local caterer as well. Made me think of Dianne Mott Davidson books (see HERE). The mystery series that revolves around catering and cooking. I love that it includes recipes of the dishes that are a part of the story.

I only read a couple then I moved on. The schtick didn't stick. Why not? I think it's because it's one note. . . . on dimensional . . . not new each time.

It's alot like the Kathi Daily series, where the main character runs a bed and breakfast inn in Maine, and is working to improve it. With my background that series should call to me and resonate . . . but after two, it got stale.

Is it that they're female authors? Is it that the theme is too predictable? I think it's funny that publishers are constantly looking for the next fresh theme idea and looking for a series. I love that mine are called a "loose series" (see HERE).  I have no compunction to continue the story arc of my characters from my novels. They've lived their adventure.

In this regard I follow Dick Francis. His characters too only have one adventure. There are two I think who had a sequel. Maybe I'll get to that point.

Maybe too I'll go back and read another Diane Mott Davidson or Kathi Daley novel and try them again.
