I really liked the project we turned in on homeschooling (see HERE). Remember it was an app or website that helped homeschool parents create a community for support, a moderated community for kiddos, and a place to house, create, develop, share, and deliver reinforcement quizzes to help support the learning and courses.
My class had a chance to review our proposal and thoughts. My classmate Kendra loved it and really thought the community aspect was unique. One thing I think our proposal provides is the opportunity for the community not just for the student, but also for the parent.
I would imagine that many times parents feel overwhelmed by the aspect of trying to homeschool and may not even attempt it. Then there are those who already do it and would love an administrative assistant to help administer the courses effectively, stay on top of things, and help meet dates and regulations from the state or governing authority. Then there is just the support and encouragement aspect. How wonderful would it be if you could reach out to a caring and supportive community with questions or concerns and hear from them some of the ways to overcome obstacles and stories about their own homeschool parenting journey.
Then there is the community for the students. Many times, it seems, there is a stigma about homeschooling because students won’t get the socialization that they receive at school. Having a community for students that is safe for students and partitioned by grade and/or age, would allow students to find community support and help and provide the student something similar to that socialization that some belief is missing from the home school dynamic.
