A True Addict

I have/had a friend, who I think is a true addict. When I say this, I mean like a "sad," or "pathetic" addict. The type who can't help themselves. The types that are on a downward spiral and they can't pull up. Think of Nicolas Cage's character in the last half of Leaving Las Vegas. Or think of Helena Bonham Carter in Fight Club. Maybe even Mark Renton in Trainspotting.

I will freely admit that I'm a coffee-holilc. I love coffee. My morning doesn't seem complete without a good cup of coffee in it. I like the taste, I love the ritual, I enjoy the habit. Have I quit before? I sure have. I missed the ritual, so I came back after a couple of months. 

The North Keep Em Coming

For a long time now, I’ve been storing and cataloging these lines that I think are so good, under the Evershade label, and I don’t feel like today will be the day that I stop.

Shaw and Ghosts

I'm reading a book entitled, How to Know a Person. It's all about being a better person and being a better person towards others. I'm not saying I have to be some better human, but we all need a bit of work right? 

In this book, the author quotes George Bernard Shaw and writes, "the worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them: that's the essence of humanity."

More Shades

Ugh, this one hits hard. Why? I guess cause it's so true. 

You deserve a calm love with someone who's your safe space, your best friend, and soothes your soul during stressful situations. Life is hard enough, you deserve someone who brings you peace, not problems. 

Glasses Fetish

A while back I posted about glasses and the fact that I now have to wear glasses. One of my co-workers, a marketing lady, she saw a picture of me without my glasses. I was playing golf and took them off for a moment. She didn't even recognize me! Glasses are such a huge factor in how people look. What I know about myself, and have known for quite some time, is that people with glasses are far more attractive. 

No it's true. It gives faces more character. There's more to see. There's more to attract. There's fashion to the face. Check the images above, and the ones below. Tell me I'm wrong. 

I've picked just a few people to compare and contrast. And nope! I'm not showing that picture of me in my glasses again. I don't have the chops that these gals have. 

Eva Mendes, no one can say she's not beautiful. And yet, with glasses she's a stunner. Rashida Jones, cute, with a great sex appeal, and yet you throw on the glasses, and she's an immediate fox. 

Then Julianne Moore. I have no thing for ginger's . . . but I do have a bit of a thing for gals with green eyes. Gals with blue eyes? Well, it's far more than a thing at that point. Throw some specs on those peepers and green-eyed Julianne Moore is a complete a smoke show! And that pic up there  . . . it has horrible lighting, but I think it makes my point. 

My own roommate had glasses when we met. Since then she's gotten Lasik. I like pre-Lasik roommate more!

What's funny is that I have always had a glasses fetish. I had a girlfriend once who refused to ever let me see her in glasses. I think if she had I might have run away with her for the rest of my life!

If That's Okay

I was thinking more about friendship… Close, friends… And cutting away towed jumpers… Anyone who is an avid follower of this blog will remember my post on towed jumpers… And I think I mentioned Baldwin (see HERE).

I had a good friend once . . . a long time back . . . could easily be defined as my closest friend ever … who when writing to me said "I'll call if that's OK."

Need vs Want

I've written about this before, . . . probably many times. . . but it's a huge part of my life, and a major theme in the novel I'm currently pecking away on in my Reedsy account. I have a good clip going, got some momentum, and Reedsy hooks you up with an editor, so hopefully, this time, I won't get reviews that say "could really use a professional editor."

But I'm writing about Need vs Want. I wrote earlier that men want to be needed and women need to be wanted. I think I wrote about this in terms of Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. The way that men and women communicate, and fail to communicate and the challenges and problems that grow from that. 

More On Priorities

A while back, I wrote about priorities… And I think I want to expand on that just a bit more.

Terms of self-authorship one of the more important things I've learned is about ill-structured problems. The world is filled with ill-structured problems. And earlier I also wrote about ill-structured people. Basically what I meant by that was there are people out there who create  . . . by their very nature . . . ill-structured problems. I coined the term ill-structured people and I hope I can trade the market and make some money off of it very soon.

I've also authored the terms . . . "complifiers" and "complify." A play on the word simplify that I'm still stunned hasn't gone viral yet. 

Priorities

I was thinking about priorities. There was a podcast wherein they discussed how much work there is out there to be done. Basically if you have a worker, we have the work for em. I think about my folks at work. They are overwhelmed with work. They have to prioritize. 

Then I also think about that gal who came to work a few weeks back, new on the job. By the middle of the morning she had her head down on the desk bored and exhausted. She looked up and said, “is there any room for advancement at this job?” All of my advancement, and the advancement I promote comes by way of more work. Her words should have been, “anything I can help with?” Overload yourself with work, and the advancement will come.

We've heard the saying, a leopard never changes his spots . . . or is it a tiger can't change his stripes? Which is it? I guess, after my slight google search, it's leopard.

A Heady Love Affair

I'm reading a great book about the ambassador to Germany during Hitlers rise to power. One of the main stories that the author focuses on is the story of the ambassador's daughter, Martha. She was a bit of a romantic to put it lightly. She slept around a lot with a lot of men, even when she was married, and with many, many married men. She hopped around a lot. 

Still I see some of my life in her. There are moments when she writes that hit me right in the heart. 

One Last One?

For a long time I kept alive a series of posts,  . . . poems and lines that I found via other sources mostly, that helped me deal with different aspects of my life and challenges I was going through. I logged them all under the rubrick of Evershade Posts (see HERE). 

I know I've recently closed down this thread but there always comes that time that you see that perfect post for a thread, and it doesn't matter if it's no long-running or not, you realize it has to be added.

Been a While Since the Last Evershade

I know, I know . . . it's been a while (a LONG while) since I posted any poetry or anything regarding these Evershades (see HERE). I've been working on a new series, Everyday Sox (see HERE). 

BUT! I came across another couple and I just couldn't help myself in posting them and adding to this little series. 

The first, is a part of that image. Isn't it a wonderful quote. I've heard it stated as "love is composed of two bodies inhabiting one soul" which is just as poignant, but I thought that little image up there was pretty good too.

Apparently my pseudonym is Molotov Scotch Tale. I mean, she could be my clone. We think the same things. Anyone who follows these posts would know that she has been a big part of these Evershade posts (see HERE).

Exactly my State of Mind

As a part of the ever growing series with the Evershade label (see HERE) are these next few, I have to say these are pretty close to what I'm feeling, eerily close.

Series Continues Forward

So, this series continues to grow . . . why? Well, first I love these lines. It's a good thing to find these little gems and appreciate them. Secondly, they help me figure things out in my own life. They resonate with me and linger, sometimes they emanate other light and other understandings. 

Regardless, it used to be that Great White North was my best sourse for these Evershade posts (see HERE), but lately it's been Molotov Scotch Tale.

Seems a Bit Short (and Spooky)

Something remarkable happened. I got an apology from someone and it was wholly inadequate. Like meteorically unimpressive. I was thinking about it and and wondering what to respond or think about it ultimately, when I ran into a Seinfeld clip that summed it up perfectly.

What's funny is that it wasn't just summed up perfectly about how to think about it . . . it was the EXACT SAME APOLOGY! It was spooky infact.
