Weekly Writing Status Update - 4

This week I “completed” a lot of my writing . . . And started a really decent (so far) writing habit. Two great things if you ask me.

The completions consisted of submitting my article to Interactive Learning Systems. This is a Taylor and Francis academic journal that I selected as my target journal for one of my articles that I drafted from my dissertation. It’s not all of my dissertation. The first three chapters of the dissertation are 25K words. I’m only allowed 6K words for the article so I pared it down quite a bit.

One of the things I did was instead of comparing three groups, two treatment or experimental groups and a control group, I only discussed two groups, our Non-VR training group and our VR with emotional videos group. By only comparing the two I hope it’s more concise. The data support that it’s positive to have VR, so that should make the people at the journal intrigued. Safely, it’s not significant, and I wished we could have waited a few more weeks to submit, . . . I might have had more data to analyze.

So, I submitted that.

Then I also completed the Virtual Realty storyboard I’m writing for one of the national committees I’m on. At first I was a bit perturbed that they were asking me to do so much work, but actually, it would take me far less time than any of the other committee members, plus I have this whole PhD in VR training thing going. I think my future might contain quite a few projects like this one, so I should get used to it.

What is the habit I’m getting into?

I’ve started writing 300 words a day. I know, I know, that’s not much. And truth, I write a ton more than that when you consider all of the different types of writing that I do. I mean I’m writing 300 words a day just on my novel. Strangely, it hasn’t been writing on the welding novel, rather I’m back to writing Sunset Perfect/Kingdom of Deceit novel. Who knew? But yeah, I’m writing on that each day. Hopefully I’ll catch some momentum and amp things up to 500 day, then 1000 a day, then maybe more!

Stay tuned!
