So I was pecking away on a novel that I had tentatively titled Sunset Perfect. An old friend helped me with that title years ago. She said she thought a friendship, a close friendship should be simple and perfect, like a sunset. So, ergo, Sunset Perfect.
That was the working novel title for this little story for years and years. Now, the novel has changed, which is funny cause that friendship sunsetted too when I left my old job! HA!
What’s the title changed to? The savvy reader will know already that the new working title is Kingdom of Deceit. Why?
So, there’s a holy roller character who figures heavily into the plot, and the main character is stuck in a little world of. . . . Or perhaps we of lies that he has to uncover. He’s going to find himself surrounded by lies and in a world where everyone lies, and it becomes overwhelming for him to figure out what the truth is and what the lies are.
I was planning on having lots of mini references to biblical characters in homage to that character. I did that in my last novel. The main character took a trip down the nine circles of hell, you know greed, lust, envy, gluttony, etc, etc. It’s not in your face, and I’m sure that it’s tough for anyone to see, but I like having these little hidden secondary themes, so why not. And the title alludes to a that.
Ergo, there’s a working title change. I’ll find a place for Sunset Perfect somewhere in my future.
