Shifting the Language

I just had another article published (HERE). Woo-Hoo! Sadly, this might be the least impressive of the bunch.

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), an organization of which I am a member since I earned my Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification, has published my article on translanguaging.

Why is this the least impressive?

For the most part I write that because I'm not a fan of their journal. I think it looks a bit silly, and I don't think they do a good job of publishing their journal.

If I look at the format of their online publishing, it looks weak and a bit out of place. The second image that I've included shows what I mean. I didn't bold those words that you see. They did. And they weren't done well. The table (which I have not shown) doesn't look much better.

I like the study itself. I completed the study with JM, SV, and JM. I wrote it up, and performed the study. SV and JM helped set up and run the data collection. JM did some analysis and editing. I don't think JM, SV, and JM care very much about being "published," but it really makes me happy.

It's a good study too. We basically used something called "translanguaging," and we surveyed the learners who took it. They loved it. And statistically speaking their  enjoyment was statistically significant.

Overall, I may not provide too many more articles to SHIFT. I think I like Professional Saftey Journal (PSJ) more. But it's a good step in the right direction.
